Our Club
Here at the Long Beach Lawn Bowling Club, we view it as
our mission to introduce as many people as possible to this
great game. It is also our duty to provide our members
with the support and tools needed to accomplish and attain
whatever it is they are looking for in the game. If a
member wishes to get out and enjoy a little fresh air and
exercise in the company of like minded friends, we have over
a hundred members to provide a friendly social atmosphere.
And if a member is looking to improve their game and
compete at a higher level, we have 2 past National Champions
as well as multiple international competitors that will be
more than willing to lend advice. We also have a great
mix of up and coming bowlers and established vets to share
in the goals of tournament success.

Draw Bowling
The draw is the method by which teams are determined at our daily social games. It guarantees that every member will be able to participate and nobody is ever left out.And since they are at set times, there are always plenty of other members there. Here is how it works. The draw is at a set time. During Spring, Summer, ans Fall, the main game is at 10 am. So usually about 9-9:30 am, members start showing up at the club. When they arrive, they take their tag from where it hangs with all other members' tags, and hang it on the game board. When they do this, they select which position they would like to play, skip, vice, or lead. This enables players to play a position where they feel comfortable. By 10am, all tags should be up, and some minor adjustments are done to ensure all teams are full. Games can be pairs or triples, so all players can always be accomodated. When the board is set, the member in charge of the draw will produce a basket with colored chips in it, white for leads, red for vice, and blue for skips. Position by position, the names on the board will be called out, with that person coming up and randomly drawing a chip from the basket. That chip says which team they are on. This ensures that the teams are completely random, and there is no stacking of teams. Players then go to their assigned rinks and wait and see who shows up on their team.
Members are encouraged to have their tags 15 minutes before the
game to give the organizers time to set the board and avoid any unnecessary
delays. As to dress code, Whites are required all day on Sunday.
Events and Activities
Carnival
On Saturday, April 2, the Long Beach Lawn Bowling Club hosted its
annual Carnival Tournament. Approximately 100 bowlers showed up from
acriss Southern Californiato compete in this much anticipated tournament.
What sets Carnival apart from other tournaments is that it is set up as a draw,
with no preset teams. You enter as an individual, but bowl three games on
3 different teams. This is a great way to get to meet bowlers from other
clubs, and be exposed to many different styles of played. It also avoids
the powerhouse teams, as each person entered plays one position for the whole
day, and each team has a skip, a vice, and a lead, so you don't have a team
stacked with 3 skip level players.Carnival Results
